No matter where he’s performing over the globe he knows you’ll be there cheering, holding a big black sign with glittery silver words on it that say “THE SOCIETY’S BIGGEST FAN !!” jumping up and down in the front crowd so he can see. When he does notice you he gives you an obvious grin making you jump up and down.

ROCKSTAR!RENJI always invites you backstage even when you don’t have a backstage pass. When you ask if you can even be backstage he just shushes you pushing a finger against your lips and says,“let’s just.. keep this a secret between me and you yeah sweetheart?” You of course giddily smile and giggle in excitement when he leads you into the spacious backstage room.

ROCKSTAR!RENJI who has you sitting real close next to him on the black velvet chaise lounge three seater couch you two were sharing. With your shoes kicked off getting comfortable already, you were hugging renji’s arm as he chuckled and spoke to the other hand members ichigo, chad and rukia.

You never put any input into whatever they were talking about and just stared at his face as he touched at his red hair scratching at it before rukia scolds him about it.“yumichika spends so much time everyday making sure those red wigs of yours are laid nicely and you scratch them up so easily renji.” He just groans once again, this was always an occurrence with him and rukia, him doing something either immature or brutish with her in response scolding him like a child as she was doing right now.

When her eyes shifted to you sitting next to him she raised a brow.“did byakuya say you can have fans in here?” she raised a brow shifting between you and Renji. You just clinged onto his bicep more doing nothing more than a smile at the black haired woman

making her sigh and just let it go as a whole and laid her whole body back into the couch she was sitting on across from both you and renji.

renji rolled his neck just shrugging her words off like he always did in their conversations.“I don’t think it’s some big deal plus he always finds out anyways and I don’t think he’ll mind me having this cutie around right? Never did with the others anyways..” he muttered the last part but you and rukia very obviously heard him. You didn’t take offense of course, it made sense that he had other fans attached to him you would just show him how different you were from the rest.

Ichigo just made a quiet sigh at the conversation he was hearing between his friends, it would be just another fangirl around the band more.

You were obviously serious about being around ROCKSTAR!RENJI because now he would see you even more and not just backstage and at clubs that were hard to get in, only people who knew a friend from a friend could get in and people of celeb status.

It was a jumpscare but a surprise when he would be casually drinking a gin and tonic chatting up with ichigo near a wall then seeing you pop up next to him obviously drunk off energy from dancing instead of alcohol.“my number one fan, what makes you follow us all the way to a Miami club huh?” The way he called you his number one fan made you sweetly giggle and almost blush at the thought of being his fan, his only fan and girl to keep.

“Wellll I may have pulled some strings to get in to see you ren but it’s not only for you! I like to party too.” You pout crossing your arms at him and batting your lashes. Ichigo just had to be the man next to renji to witness the shameless flirting between the both of you and took the route to shy away from this situation and just mumbling under his breath while walking off.

Now you were face to face just with him alone. He titled his head with a grin.“really? Just happened to meet the whole of The Society here?”

You shy away giggling.“I’m a social butterfly ren’ plus I was mostly talking to the gals, rukia is such a sweetheart y’know? Her and ‘hime.” he grunts at that knowing rukia was probably running her mouth about him and how he is.

He snapped out his own thoughts once he heard you speak again.“I even saw your manager on the way here and whew he’s a hottie that one!” he coughed at that, you meeting his own manager was something he didn’t even want to happen since he knew how byakuya felt about all his other fangirls.“Ah maybe we should leave my manager alone? Stuck up guys probably don't even wanna meet more people.”

She hummed, frowning now.“But I’m sure he’ll love me though, I’ll be like a friend in law.” He just wanted to shut that down and grabbed her by both of her hands, intertwining them with his.“would be so much better if this was just.. kept in the dark though from my prude manager right? Like only a me and you thing between us like a sneaky link.”

That word made your eyes light up in wonder. You only heard of the concept of sleeping around with celebrities from chat forums but never experienced it yourself. you got on your tippy toes in front of him with your hands behind your back.“sneaky link? Like us sneaking around?” you paused, wrapping your arms around his neck.“and us kissing and stuff?”

renji just gave her a smile confirming that.“Just you and me, doing whatever you please in secret sweetheart.” renji couldn't complain, what’s the worst that could really happen with a fangirl? At least to him.

ROCKSTAR!RENJI starts to enjoy your presence more as a girl he fucks and spends time with and less as a fangirl. You took care of him, always taking that long red wig he had on off his head after his shows backstage to relieve him of the sweaty hairs sticking to his head revealing his red cornrows.“you know, you should really just stop wearing those, just wear these out like you’re PlayBoi Carti at a show.”

He laughed at that as he sat between your legs with his bottom on the cozy floor.“nah, would throw my whole rockstar persona off and the media..” he whistled in between his words.“who knows how they would twist a damn celebrity wearing out their natural hair that’s not long going down to your back.”

That was just utter bullshit to you. Looking at his hair right now it fit his rockstar persona just right to you with his red cornrows and white bandana around his forehead.“well, how bout you give ‘em a big fuck you ren? Your bubbly tone while saying that sold renji but he wouldn’t tell you that.“I’ll think about it baby.” but he considers it and puts it in mind for a concert one of these days.

When ROCKSTAR!RENJI starts to wear his cornrows more, you're the main one doing them since he doesn’t want just anybody playing in his hair. He also just liked the feeling of your hands in his head.

ROCKSTAR!RENJI would say he doesn’t treat you like a girlfriend but to orihime and rukia that was far from the truth. In personal love songs he created for the band he always had lyrics that described you or your appearance in a loving way.

ROCKSTAR!RENJI can be just as clingy as you can be clingy. Sometimes putting up a playboy rockstar persona can be tiring and he liked to be coddled more as the coddler. On a good day he’s free from rehearsals and the studio recordings he just likes to lay between your thighs.

ROCKSTAR!RENJI may not show you to the public eye but shows off his relationship to you at private parties and his band. Going from holding your hand and kissing your neck much to ichigo and rukia’s disgust, a bunch of “get a rooooom!” sayings from the two.

ROCKSTAR!RENJI loved you being his little pretty Barbie doll so he brought you a lot of dresses you planned wearing in the crowds of his concerts. It was probably gonna be a terrible financial decision in the future for him but he liked to see you in pretty short black dresses.

- As an adult and someone who was basically raised by an older sibling w/a big age gap (my sis is 7 years older) I kinda don’t blame Takeomi for being a bad older brother??? Realistically he’s a 17 yr old in charge of raising 2 toddlers like NO SHIT he did a bad job. At least Shin had his grandfather to help out but Takeomi actually had no one. “Shit.”  He said it in the middle of the Senate Plaza.  “Shit, shit, shit.”

Jace started to march back toward his captain’s office.  Then he stopped and looked up at the Supreme Commander’s office, high in the Senate Tower. Then he looked back in the direction of the starport.

ralphs defecting!  trying to get close – long time to get picked up last time i stopped a guy in imp space. And I got friends in cargo.

Jace had to pocket his comm unit at that point.  He – he had to figure out who Kal’s commander of the week was and figure out how Kal ended up undercover.  He was not SIS. 

Then he pulled the comm unit back out again -- he had questions.

SIS guy named Trant and Elin.

Jace made a face. That named sounded familiar.  

Garza?

yah – resistance on Bomodon for last yearish  -- they’re making the final push right now.  Gotta get her to medical – need you to call it in.

Elin Garza.

Jace knew her.  A few years older than he was, and a few ranks higher, really fast – that’s what happened in a war.  Everyone flew upward as the war dragged on.

Bomodon – that jarred something in his brain.

Jace shook the word around, like a coin in a bank.  

Bomodon, the planet the Empire had invaded 10 months ago.  The Pub 45th had been shot down over it, which was the worst mistake the Imps ever made – Garza and her gang of miscreants were making Imp life hell across the entire planet.  Jace was smart enough to know there was some sort of back channel to the Midrim planet.  Kal had just told him it was SIS, which meant Jace absolutely shouldn’t have known that.

But Elin was hurt.

Ok, that was something actionable.

Jace checked his chrono.

Kriff.

He shouldn’t cancel it.

He had to.

Kark Kal and his misadventures, Jace knew his brother’s nonsense would catch up to him one day.

And it would be the day that Jace was supposed to have his final interviews and conduct review for becoming a first lieutenant.  With this promotion, he wouldn’t lose his rank when the war ended.  He’d be a ‘real’ officer.

…somehow, as with everything that Kal touched, it turned out ok.

Jace followed the chain of command: he double-timed it back to Captain Leuros and dutifully handed over his comm device.

Upon finding out what the ever-loving hell Kal Malcom was doing, the Supreme Commander had ordered his own medical staff to the starport to grab Garza and went there himself to supervise, Jace about three steps behind him.

A holocall to SIS confirmed that yes, this had been Trant’s mission, and yes, he’d had authority from Kal’s commander to use the corporal to evac Garza out in any way he saw fit.

As ordered, the new Imperial shuttle deactivated its cloaking device right over the Senate tower, then came in for a landing.  

A platoon of Republic troopers had their blaster rifles trained on the ship as it unloaded its cargo.

First, out of the pilot’s door, came ‘Ralph,’ with Kal’s blaster to his back.  Apparently, 'Ralph’ was a Chiss with a busted translator. Then came Kal, who had a black eye and busted lip from his meet-cute with Ralph.  The younger Malcom brother was a few inches shorter and about a hundred pounds lighter than Jace, and given everything he’d gone through today, he didn’t look too bad.

As soon as Ralph was taken into custody by the security forces of the starport, Kal dropped his blaster.  “Medical here!” he hollered as he motioned them over to the back end of the ship as the cargo hatch slowly opened.

The Supreme Commander’s medstaff swarmed the ship.  

Jace actually gasped a little when he saw Elin on the stretcher.  She’d lost a lot of weight since he had last seen her – one of his first parties as a second lieutenant, before she went off to the 45th, year or so before they go shot down.  

…damn, two years went by fast.

Elin’s leg looked awful – that’s all Jace would allow himself to think about.  His gaze jumped back up to her face.  Inseparable from her was a lean, tall man, who gripped her hand even as they rushed Elin out of the starport and directly to Coruscant General. As the group ran by him, Jace managed to hear the distinct low tenor say,  “Elin – come on, we made it back.  Can’t go now. Who’s going to make me look like a fool whenever I tell Bomodon stories?”

That wasn’t normal SIS-Army relations.

Then they were gone.

“Jace!”

Jace spun at the sound of his brother’s voice, and his feet carried him right over there. “Kal, you moron.”

Jace hugged him so hard he heard Kal’s bones pop.  He didn’t care.  Neither did Kal.  “Thanks for the welcome wagon.”

“I like Elin,” Jace quipped, and despite Kal’s injuries, the younger brother smiled.

“Lieutenant Malcom. Corporal Malcom.”  

The pair turned to see the Supreme Commander patiently waiting for their reunion to come to a logical pause.  

The two brothers snapped to attention, their salutes as crisp as a starched uniform.

The Supreme Commander jerked his chin in the general direction of his office.  

The Malcom brothers shared a look and wordlessly followed.

It all worked out. Jace got his promotion.  Kal got a commendation.  Marcus and Elin got married within three months.  Ralph decided that ‘Ralph’ was a good name for a new life in the Republic.

A/N: Yes, Trant and Garza are canon - they’re each other’s first spouse.  It only lasts for 2 years, but it would have been right around this time, after they liberated Bomodon together.  Jace probably knew Garza or at least knew of her.

This is the manifestation of an oc I’ve had for awhile now: Kal Malcom, Jace’s younger brother.  Kal lacks any of the discipline that Jace has.  He doesn’t have the same drive or ambition as his brother; he ends up in the army because he’s sort of directionless in terms of his career, and, well, Jace is there.   Unlike Jace, Kal swims through social situations like a fish in water.  He’s endlessly charming and has a magnetic personality -- hence why he and Ralph get along, in the end.  Kal is smart but a chronic underachiever: the guy who gets ‘does not apply himself’ on report cards. Jace still loves his brother, a lot.  He’s sad that Theron never gets to meet him -- or their parents. 

But that’s another story.

bcos when i first started listening to wtnv, it felt like coming home, in a way that actually physically going home never did. bcos i was isolated and strange then--yes, bcos i was young and newly figuring out my queerness and cecil helped me feel better about that, but also like

i felt strange, you know? like god yeah i know i'm not special, but i struggled with fitting in. had weird interests. head in the clouds. dressed funny. talked funny. at weird food no one else liked. didn't get social cues. did strange things, had unusual behaviors or movements or whatever. got called annoying and weird a lot. couldn't keep hold of friends, or a home, or a job, for a while, sometimes bcos they left me and sometimes bcos i left them for not very good reasons. cycled through different ones regularly, until i lost them. had dreams too big and unreachable, and tried my best to settle for what i could reach, even if i didn't love it, and still couldn't quite hold on.

and ok yeah some of that was neurodivergence (undiagnosed), and some of it was queerness, and some of it was cultural stuff goin on, and some of it was just that like, i was in my early 20s and moved far away from home without much in the way of support, right

but night vale took weirdness--my kind of weirdness, or other kinds of weirdness, spooky or horrifying or just deeply deeply strange--and embraced it. made it normal. made it all the same, all accepted. i felt like that was a place i would be allowed to be myself, because who cares if you dress weird or talk weird or whatever when there's five-headed dragons and angels and monster librarians? and what better place to put too-big-too-unreachable-too-odd-to-be-real dreams than somewhere like night vale, where big unreachable odd dreams are part of everyday life?

and through it all cecil speaking soothingly in my ears as i went about my uncomfortable, unfitting daily life, telling me things about community and togetherness and hope amidst the endless trials and void. of course that was the voice i listened to all the time. of course.

the first time i stopped listening to wtnv, it did sort of coincide with some big changes in my life, but more than that: i had become afraid that night vale would be un-weirded. some characters in canon had started to question some of what had previously been standard in town, and they were around some anniversaries, and i was, actually, pretty used to a lot of 'big magic adventure' media that ended with the heroes going home to mundanity, the lesson being about growing up or whatever. and i was so afraid that night vale would do that and take that away from me, so i drifted away and found other things.

and then i did go back and started listening again, and they never did any of that. they had some arcs about accountability, about changing old traditions for better ones, about examining beliefs, but never in a way that took away night vale's weirdness. there was always more, newer, better weirdness to come. and i fell in love with the show all over again.

(the second time i stopped listening was just bcos i was too busy, and i rly have just a handful of episodes to catch back up on. but even when i left, night vale was still there, waiting, ready to welcome me back.

i'm doing a little better with life and stuff now, made better friends, got a better home, found a better job, learned about myself a bit more, started chasing some of those big dreams and damn but i'm doin ok at it. but still night vale is a comfort and a joy to me, a strange little home i love.)

i havent actually thought much about what the others nightmares would be like !! ant and hannah def both experience sleep paralysis, and honestly i wouldnt be too surprised if the others did from time to time, especially someone like skeppy who was trapped in one place for so long and would probably be really fucked up if he dreamt of being back there. that being said sleep paralysis itself is kind of random (save for like. when ppl get it when theyre super stressed abt smth) so i couldnt say for sure who else would or wouldnt have it, hannah was projection and ant was both just Vibes and to give hannah a friend who understood the feeling.

as for nightmares. i think bad has both plain old nightmares and nightmares that are just memories, about both the egg and skeppy. mundane things, mostly. less skeppy's death, more just. watching him talk to and interact with the egg. and he himself talking to and interacting with the egg. like nothing has changed. waking up disoriented but comfortable. comfort turning to terror as realization kicks in. and then feeling sick all day to be dreaming of something like that, to miss it that much.

idk if ponk would have nightmares about the egg specifically? i can definitely imagine ones about losing his arm though. maybe some where it's back and waking up is wildly disorienting, maybe some where he's losing it and feeling the pain of it all over again.

if any of them had nightmares in common i think it'd be of the night of the banquet, when they were scattered and running and the egg reached out as strongly as it could to each of them and pulled. nightmares where they feel the egg's own fury and terror all over again, the sense of betrayal, the pain that gripped them all in those last moments before the tether snapped and they were able to run.

and that's all sort of just speculation, nightmares are in my experience pretty rarely based off real events and can definitely change DRASTICALLY to encompass and express different sorts of fear. they could dream of all sorts of things- taking a nice stroll through land fully corrupted by bloodvines, maybe. dreaming that the egg never existed in the first place and their lives never changed and they're happy and loved with old friends. things far stranger than that, things that dont seem connected to the egg at all but have the same emotion tied in. anything really !!!

i told myself i didn't want to spend another year having to pour out the love and anger and hurt from tyler but lately a couple things have been ringing in my head and won't let go so let me write this out to exorcise it

the first is him telling me "we were never going to work out" after the lawyer's office - the rage i felt when he said that was incandescent. it felt like a huge fuck you after all the effort i put in the relationship which had always felt one-sided to me; this statement made that feel even more real. one of our biggest issues was lack of communication and consistency from him - i hated when he ran away and ghosted me in lieu of actually talking shit out and i hated when he wouldnt tell me his real feelings even when it was glaringly obvious he was mad at me. i thought those were rookie r/ship issues that would get better with time bc it was obvious he had legacy r/ship issues he hadn't healed from but i didnt rly care bc it wasn't like i had zero baggage either, i was happy to be there and work it out with him. i also rly hated that he didn't plan for our dates/impt celebrations and it was always me coming up with things 2 do even after i told him multiple times it was important to me. it's actually whack that when i told him that, he said, "yes but i come for every date even though I'm tired from work" and he made me feel so bad about it - i rly dk why I thought that was something acceptable!!!! B said tylr was just emotionally dense and tylr did tell me that he was trying the hardest he'd ever tried so i just thought he didn't kno how 2b a good boyfriend but that it would work out bc at least he said he was trying. anw it clearly didnt work out so i should've gone with my gut and dipped instead of fruitlessly following my heart or believing in the best of him. this also felt like him minimizing what I do/feel again so i guess that's why it was so triggering - the fact that he reduced his infidelity and betrayal of trust to "I should've shown more care to you in ur vulnerable moments" literally what the actual fuck. how do u minimize talking shit abt ur pregnant girlfriend, revealing her secrets to ur friends, making fun of her with rbkh and checking out s*x workers at massage parlors to "i should've shown more care" - is basic empathy out of ur wheelhouse

Who is the best doctor you’ve ever had? The psychiatrist that very literally turned my life around when I began my partial hospitalization program. I stayed with him for many years until insurance made it so I could no longer see him. This is actually what resulted in me being hospitalized again last March; I was so devastated and scared of leaving the ONE mental health professional that REALLY made a difference for me that I became suicidal again. He is an incredible professional with what seemed like a totally unending well of medical knowledge. In the same hospital, when I did the PHP a second time, the therapist that most regularly worked with me was my favorite I've ever had as well; I totally desperately wanted to stay with him once the program was over, but sadly he worked exclusively in that. I wanna emphasize I've been seeing psychiatrists and therapists since the 7th grade (who are around 12 or 13, and I'm 27 now), like I've seen SO FUCKING MANY, so calling you my favorite carries an insane amount of weight.

Have you ever been flipped off by a random stranger? Yes actually, while driving. It was a truck of teenage boys and when they (illegally) passed, multiple of them stuck their hand out the window to do it. My mom was fucking furious lmao, she did it right back.

If she's not, then I'd probably run and get Venus out of her terrarium first and then immediately look for Roman. I think I'd go for Venus first just because she's in a cage and is also a ball python so she wouldn't be going anywhere and is therefore super easy to find, while I'm sure Roman would probably be frantically running around or like paralyzed in a hiding spot. Really I wouldn't be surprised if Roman found a way out himself if there's an open window or door, being a cat. Deep hatred for this question btw lmao
